Caravaggio in Apulia
Caravaggio in Apulia
Organized in Apulia an exhibition on this important painter, at the Swabian Castle of Mesagne (Br), from 16 July to 8 December.
On the occasion you can see thirty-five famous works of the artist.
The title of the event with the participation of private and public enterprises, is “Caravaggio e il suo tempo – Tra naturalismo e classicismo”, the central topic is the birth and development of Caravaggio’s naturalism.
“The exhibition was born from the idea of fixing the path of the great Lombard genius from his first training up to the years of his maturity.
There will be some masterpieces of private collection known to the general public, it will be possible to admire the Boy with a jar of roses and the Boy bitten by a lizard of Merisi and the Conversion of Saint Paul by Ludovico Carracci. Caravaggio’s painting also becomes the pretext for a journey into the fantastic season of the seventeenth century where, alongside the chiaroscuro representation of the master, new talents flourish and intertwine along different paths such as that of classicism. An emotion to live!”.
Points on which to dwell during the visit , Caravaggio is defined as a cinematographic painter able to enhance the human and nature “simply” with a play of lights. In a few words Caravaggio in the painting of the “Boy bitten by a lizard” pays attention and shows the motions of the human soul, so that the observer pays the maximum attention to the face of the young man, the still life becomes almost secondary, later.
An unmissable event for Italian and foreign tourists , for the people of Puglia.
